Red Heritage raspberry blossoms

These canes were planted last year. We took the necessary yet painful step of removing all the blossoms they produced the first year so the plant would focus on root development instead of fruit development.  Hopefully this year we'll get to eat raspberries growing 6 feet from the kitchen door.  Yippee...I can harvest them in my pajamas.

Red heritage raspberries - a gift from Jen

Received 3 dormant Red Heritage plants from Jen on January 29, 2009.

Unknown variety from Betsy on March 4, 2009

Plant 2 ft apart in sunny location with little wind. Trellis.

Everbearer.

Planted March 14, 2009

Cut canes back to the ground after harvest to get one bigger fall crop. Will produce two smaller seasonal crops if canes if allowed to fruit on second year canes (summer crop).

Fert in late winter if necessary.
